Winter Golf

First, thank you to all our guests this past year at Sultan’s Run Golf Club. Hopefully, you noticed the upgrades in the golf shop and treated yourself and friends. We look forward to seeing you in the spring, as we unveil new offerings such as Sultan’s Run “private label” shirts, cool t-shirts, logo caps, and a great selection of other apparel. Regardless of your budget, we have something for everyone.

In addition, the condition of the golf course reached new heights this year thanks to the efforts of our superintendent, Rob Ryan, and his hard-working crew. Their diligence and pride does not go unnoticed.

This section is for those who will put up their clubs for the winter waiting for the first warm days of the spring to play again. Consider a small program to maintain (or build) strength and flexibility. The simplest golf related means is to swing a weighted club 50 times at least 3 times a week. Obtain a club donut (available at a golf store or Wal-Mart), or simply take an old club and duct tape some extra hardware (nuts, bolts, or washers) to the head of the club. A club weighing about 2 pounds will do the trick! Now swing your repetitions at 50%-75% speed. You will be amazed at the results. Remember; please consult with your physician before undergoing strenuous activity (if necessary).

For those who will play throughout the winter, maintain reasonable expectations. First, you probably will be wearing extra layers, you may lose “feel” on the short shots, and the golf course may not be in its normal conditions. Bring a friend and enjoy the opportunity to play.
